UPDATE: 3 horses dead after truck hauling horse trailer tips over on I-35E in St. Paul

UPDATE: 35E has reopened following this crash.
Three horses died after a trailer full of horses tipped over with a truck on Interstate 35 East Southbound early Thursday morning in St. Paul.
According to MnDOT, at around 2:45 a.m., a truck with a trailer full of horses lost control on the highway. The Minnesota State Patrol reported that three out of the five horses died due to the incident.
The State Patrol is investigating a crash (no injuries to driver) SB Highway 35E near University Ave. in St. Paul. The crash involved a truck that was hauling a trailer with five horses. Three of the horses are deceased. Exits to EB 94 and SB 52 are closed. Find alternate route.

KSTP traffic reporter Josie Smith reported that I-35E Southbound is closed at Interstate 94 Eastbound and Highway 52 Southbound in St. Paul until further notice.
The ramp to 10th Street and Wacouta Street is closed as well. Traffic is being diverted to I-94 Westbound or I-35E Southbound.

According to Smith, no injuries to the driver were reported.
Currently, crews are working to clear the scene and put the horses onto another trailer.
