Twins ink Josh Donaldson to 4-year contract with $92M in guarantees

Former MVP third baseman Josh Donaldson signed a four-year contract with the Minnesota Twins, the club announced Wednesday.

The deal totals $92 million of guaranteed money. Donaldson will earn $21 million per year from 2020-23, while a $16 million club option for 2024 includes an $8 million buyout.

The 34-year-old veteran is a three-time All-Star and two-time Silver Slugger recipient and was named the AL MVP with the Toronto Blue Jays in 2015. He finished in the top 10 in MVP voting four consecutive years from 2013-16.
In 2019, he hit 37 home runs, batted in 94 runs and posted a .259 batting average in 155 games with the Braves. He missed significant time in 2018 due to injuries; it was the only season since 2012 in which he played fewer than 100 games.
Donaldson has made postseason appearances in seven of the past eight years.
