Twin Cities businesses having a difficult time hiring help

Help wanted signs are up, but many businesses around the Twin Cities are having trouble filling positions.

Officials with Minnesota Department of Employment and Economic Development say they’re trying to get those who are unemployed back into the workforce.

Desperate for workers, US restaurants and stores raise pay

At Sharrett’s Liquors in St. Paul, owner Dana Rose says he’s had a help wanted sign on his front door for months.

"It’s been rough," Rose said. "We hired two people and they never showed up."

Under the Federal Coronavirus Relief Package unemployment benefits have been extended until September — that’s an extra $300 per week.
