The key players involved in the Derek Chauvin trial

With the jury now set, the trial of Derek Chauvin — the former Minneapolis police officer charged in the death of George Floyd — is set to get underway with opening arguments on Monday.

Chauvin is charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter, plus third-degree murder.

Below is a closer look at the jurors. A total of 12 are needed to deliberate and two alternates are also kept in case a juror needs to be excused during the trial. Judge Peter Cahill said he’d dismiss the 15th juror ahead of opening arguments if another juror didn’t need to be excused.
