Officials say everyone in a Fridley apartment building is displaced following an overnight fire.

Crews were called to the Georgetown Apartments along East River Road, north of Interstate 694, just after midnight on a report of smoke.

Flames reportedly spread from the second floor to the third, and crews said there is extensive smoke and water damage.

In addition, the water was shut off, causing people to not be let back into the building.

"You’re looking at – it’s obviously a three-story building, multiple units, a big building. A lot of people are displaced," said Fire Marshal James Lange, with the Fridley Fire Department.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.

An exact number of displaced tenants has not been provided.
