State Patrol: 234 crashes, 1 fatal reported before noon amid snowstorm

Snow, limited visibility and cold temperatures created hazardous road conditions Tuesday across Minnesota.
The Minnesota State Patrol said 234 crashes, including 22 with injury and one fatal crash, were reported between 5 a.m. and noon. Another 44 vehicles spun off the road, and there were three jackknifed semis.

Minnesota State Patrol Sgt. Troy Christianson said the fatal crash happened around 7:12 a.m. in Maple Grove. The driver — identified as a 52-year-old man from Isle, Minnesota — died after his Chevrolet Silverado rolled over on Highway 610 near Elm Creek Boulevard. The victim’s name is being held pending family notification.
As of 1 p.m., snow was still falling in the metro, but that storm was projected to pass by 4 p.m., according to KSTP meteorologist Matt Serwe. In all, about an inch of snow is expected in the Twin Cities area.
