State health department reports 5 more flu-related deaths this season

Minnesota health officials have reported five more flu-related deaths this season.

According to the Minnesota Department of Health's weekly flu report, 36 people have now died from flu-related illnesses, including one child, this flu season.

The median age of those who've died from the flu is 76.

There was also nearly 200 additional hospitalizations this week, which is down slightly from the week prior.

More than 1,400 Minnesotans have been hospitalized this season with the flu.

The flu remains widespread in the state.
