A St. Paul woman is in the national spotlight after running in the Twin Cities Marathon.
Laura Sosalla was declared legally blind earlier this year due to long-term effects after a battle with COVID-19.
Sosalla appeared on "ABC World News Tonight" after she completed the marathon with the help of guides.
Sosalla and her friends who ran the marathon were named "Person of the Week."
"We have formed this just tight girl group," Sosalla said. "I mean, they feel like sisters to me. I feel so lucky to have them."
Sosalla said when ABC News reached out to her, she thought it was a joke.
"We thought it was a prank," Sosalla said. "Someone reaching out was like, ‘Hey, I’m from ABC.’ We’re all like, ‘Is this serious? Is this for real?’"
