St. Paul police investigating fatal shooting in Dayton’s Bluff neighborhood

St. Paul Police Department announced that it is investigating a fatal shooting at the intersection of Third Street East and Earl Street.

Officers were called to the scene at around 2 p.m. Thursday on a report of shots fired. Police say they found a man lying in the street with a gunshot wound. Despite first aid, the man was pronounced deceased.

He was later identified by police as 30-year-old Jermaine Ray John Baker, from St. Paul.

Police noted that the shooting occurred near a school and a bus stop.

Police say that a suspect is in custody for questioning, and there is no concern for the public’s safety at this time.

This is the 19th homicide of 2023 in St. Paul, according to police.
