St. Paul police investigate after man dies in late-night shooting

The St. Paul Police Department has launched a homicide investigation after a man died from a shooting Monday night.
According to police, at around 10:30 p.m., officers responded to reports of shots fired in the area of Atwater and Albemarle streets. When they arrived, the officers found a man lying on the ground suffering from an apparent gunshot wound.
Officers rendered aid and called St. Paul Fire medics, who pronounced the victim dead a short time later, said police.
Authorities are collecting evidence to figure out who may have been involved.
As of early Tuesday morning, no arrests have been made and no motive has been determined.
Police said preliminary information indicates the shooting was not random. Anyone with information about this shooting is asked to call 651-266-5650.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner’s Office will conduct an autopsy to identify the man and determine an exact cause of death.
This is the 18th homicide this year in St. Paul, police said.
