St. Paul police: Homicide investigation underway in Payne-Phalen neighborhood
St. Paul police said they are at the scene of a homicide investigation in the Payne-Phalen neighborhood Monday afternoon.
The department reported officers are investigating along the 1000 block of York Avenue.
In a press conference, Sgt. David McCabe said that at 12:30 p.m. Monday, it was reported that a caller had found a male victim in an alley with a pair of gunshot wounds. The victim was officially pronounced dead when first responders arrived on scene, he said.
Investigators are currently canvassing the area for witnesses, according to police.
No arrests have been made at this time, police said.
The Ramsey County Medical Examiner will identify the victim and his cause of death, police said.
McCabe noted that this marks the city’s 28th homicide investigation this year.
