St. Paul Board of Education vote to 'cease presence' of School Resource Officers in their schools
The St. Paul Board of Education has voted to cease the presence of School Resource Officers in St. Paul Public Schools.
According to a spokesperson for the district, the St. Paul Board of Education voted five to one to "cease the presence of School Resource Officers in schools starting on June 30."
The board passed a number of other motions relating to school climate and safety as well, including ceasing negotiations with the St. Paul Police Department for the upcoming school year, developing an interim safety plan without SRO services that will be discussed at the August board meeting, creating a district-wide school climate and safety implementation committee and creating building-level school climate and safety implementation groups that will be supported by the implementation committee.
