Somali President Hassan Sheikh Mohamud is scheduled to speak Thursday night at the Minneapolis Convention Center.
President Mohamud will speak to members of the Somali community in Minnesota.
There is live entertainment, and the event is free to attend.
The event comes during a challenging time for his country.
This week, the UN released a report showing parts of Somalia are in danger of slipping into famine.
Insecurity caused by the al-Qaida-affiliated al-Shabab extremist group is limiting access to hungry people, and its fighters have destroyed water wells and food sources.
Mohamud and 48 other African leaders met in Washington, D.C., with President Joe Biden this week for the U.S.-Africa Leaders Summit.
