Friday’s snowstorm has passed, but it left many airline passengers stranded at Minneapolis-St. Paul International Airport.

Airport officials reported 69 flights were canceled and 49 were delayed on Saturday. Officials also said 51 Delta flights never left the runway.

The travelers, who were greeted with cancelations, are doing their best to get their plans back on track.

“I was kind of annoyed because I wanted to go on the flight,” Colton Doering, MSP traveler, said.

Colton Doering had to wait a little bit longer to fly in a plane for the first time.

“I woke up yesterday morning and checked my notifications and it said the flight yesterday was canceled,” Shelly Doering, MSP traveler, said.

Friday’s winter storm had a snowball effect on flights at MSP.

The Doering family was scheduled to fly Delta to make it to Chicago on Friday night, but Mother Nature had other plans.

On Friday, Delta officials said there were 95 arriving and departing flights that were canceled. 136 connecting flights were also nixed.

“This snow really messed me up real bad and you know I was looking forward to being home at least by one in the morning,” Keith Norman, traveler, said.

On Friday night, Norman’s Delta flight back to North Dakota never left the snowy tarmac.

“We were here for a Steelers Vikings game. It wasn’t the outcome I wanted, but it was still a great visit,” Sam Highsmith, MSP traveler, said.

But Highsmith still got a win.

He was not greeted at the airport with a Delta cancelation or a delay.

“We had a few gate changes, but nothing really changed so we’re good,” Highsmith said.

He said the next time he comes to the Twin Cities in the winter, he’ll pack a pair of boots.

Delta officials said their de-icing efforts are going well and they do not expect any further cancellations because of weather in the Twin Cities.

They added inclement weather in other cities could impact travel plans.
