Severe thunderstorms moving across Minnesota

Severe thunderstorm warnings have been issued for parts of southeastern Minnesota and western Wisconsin, including Cannon Falls, Red Wing and Frontenac.

A severe thunderstorm warning is in effect until 6 p.m. for southeastern Dakota and central Goodhue counties in Minnesota and southwestern Pepin and southeastern Pierce counties in Wisconsin. Damaging winds reaching up to 70 mph and penny-sized hail are possible.


Two severe thunderstorm warnings expired for areas of south-central Minnesota at 3:15 p.m. Saturday.

A storm that could produce 70 mph winds and penny-sized hail was spotted just before 2:30 p.m. It is expected to pass through parts of Meeker, Sibley, McLeod, Carver and Nicollet counties.

Another severe thunderstorm passed through parts of Wright, Meeker, Sibley, Renville and Kandiyohi counties. Damaging winds of up to 70 mph and penny-sized hail are possible.


A severe thunderstorm warning for multiple cities in the southwest part of Minnesota expired at 2:45 p.m. Saturday.

The warning area included Redwood Falls, Olivia and Clara City.
