Police are searching for a suspect involved in a shooting that occurred in a parking lot at M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital in Edina Monday night.

According to the city of Edina, police were called just before 8:55 p.m. on the report of a shooting in the hospital’s parking lot.

The suspect fled the scene before police arrived. The 45-year-old victim, who was receiving treatment, was able to provide officers with a description of the suspect.

The search for the suspect caused the hospital and surrounding buildings to go into lockdown.

"When I tried to come to work, the police stopped me right away and said I couldn’t get through because there was a safety hazard," Lily Stephens, who works near M Health Fairview Southdale Hospital, said.

Police identified the suspect as an Asian man in his 30s, with a shaved head and a tattoo on the right side of his neck. The suspect was believed to be wearing sweatpants.

Anyone with information is asked to contact the Edina Police Department at 952-826-1600.

Police said they are continuing to search for the suspect and ask those in the area to be careful and stay inside if they can.
