Report: Author Gary Paulsen dies at age 82
Minneapolis native and three-time Newbery Honor author Gary Paulsen has died at age 82, according to a report from Publishers Weekly.
He wrote more than 200 books, most of them coming-of-age novels about exploring, adventures and survival in the wilderness.
He’s perhaps best known for his "Hatchet" novel series.
Paulsen often drew from his own experiences in the wild and wrote two memoirs about his experiences sled dog racing, which served as inspiration for the 2002 Disney film "Snow Dogs."
Paulsen’s final book, "How to Train your Dad" was published last month.
