Red Ox Café in Ham Lake closing after decades of service

A local landmark in Ham Lake is shutting its doors.

After several decades in business, the Red Ox Café on Highway 65 is closing Wednesday.

We’re told the owner is shutting down the restaurant to make way for a new development.

The closing marks the end of era for longtime customers who came back one last time on Tuesday.

“This is where they come,” server Kris Riley said. “This is where they have come. They’ve come from miles because it’s closing just to have one last breakfast or lunch. It’s been a ride.”

The restaurant’s building dates back to the 1960s.
