Protesters were arrested after marching in Minneapolis’ Cedar-Riverside neighborhood and onto Interstate 94 Wednesday evening as U.S. election results continue to be counted.

The Minneapolis Police Department reported the eastbound lanes of Interstate 94 were shut down at the Interstate 35 interchange.

A KSTP reporter at the scene says Minneapolis police have "arrived by bus load" to the area.

Minnesota State Patrol troopers assisted police in surrounding and then slowly arresting the protesters. The State Patrol estimated about 200 people were gathered on the interstate.

People in the group appeared to be holding signs protesting President Donald Trump and his administration but all of their reasons for protesting weren’t immediately clear.

This is a developing story. KSTP is working on updating with more information.
