Possible attempted child abduction reported in Plymouth, no arrests
The Plymouth Police Department is asking for public help as it investigates an attempted child abduction that took place earlier this month.
According to authorities, officers responded to what was initially reported as a suspicious act or possible attempted child abduction at 11:09 p.m. on July 7. The location of the incident happened in the 16000 block of 41st Avenue.
Through the course of an investigation, police have determined it was a possible abduction of a 7-year-old girl.
The suspect picked up the child, ran a short distance, dropped the child and fled on foot, according to police. The victim was reunited with her family prior to the initial 911 call.
Witnesses described the suspect as a white man in his 20s, about 5 feet, 10 inches tall with a "medium-to-slender" build. He was seen wearing a dark-colored baseball hat, black sweatshirt/hoodie and dark-colored pants.
Authorities say it has taken time and resources for investigators to identify witnesses who were able to provide a physical description of the suspect and other details to further the investigation and determine that this was a "possible attempted child abduction."
Investigators are continuing to follow leads. Residents who may have witnessed the incident are encouraged to contact Sgt. Jeff Dorfsman at 763-509-5669.
The incident remains under investigation and no additional information will be released at this time.
