UPDATE: 2 now in custody following overnight shooting in Prior Lake

UPDATE 12:10 p.m. – Prior Lake police now say two people are in custody following a shooting in the city early Wednesday morning.

According to the Prior Lake Police Department, the two suspects are identified as a 25-year-old and a 24-year-old. Earlier in the day, police said a male had been arrested, but didn’t say whether another person had been taken into custody.

Both are being held at the Scott County Jail on a charge of Reckless Discharge of a Firearm.

As 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS had reported Wednesday morning, officers had been called to a home on the 3600 block of Willow Beach Street Southwest shortly before 2:30 a.m. for reports of shots being fired.

When officers arrived, activity was found in the yard outside of a home, but did not provide details as to what that activity was.

While dealing with that call, police said more gunshots were heard being fired near a home.

Officials haven’t provided information on any other people who may have been inside the home.

UPDATE 8:20 a.m. – Police say one person is in custody after a shooting in Prior Lake early Wednesday morning.

According to Prior Lake police, officers were called to a home on the 3600 block of Willow Beach Street Southwest shortly before 2:30 a.m. for reports of shots being fired in the area.

When police arrived, they found activity in a yard outside of a home. As they dealt with that call, more gunshots were heard being fired near a home.

As of this update, police say they have a male in custody, but did not specify the person’s age. In addition, they say no one was injured during the shooting, and a handgun was found at the scene.

There is no threat to the public at this time.

UPDATE 6:30 a.m. – Nearly all law enforcement agencies who were at the scene of an overnight investigation in Prior Lake have left as of 6 a.m. Wednesday.

As of this update, a 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS crews says a deputy and an officer were at the scene, located on Willow Beach Street.

Crime scene tape could be seen surrounding a home at 6:30 a.m.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS had been pushed back several blocks earlier in the morning for safety reasons, but was allowed to move closer as the situation ended.

No other details have been provided at this time.

INITIAL REPORT 5:55 a.m. – A 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS is tracking a developing situation out of Prior Lake Wednesday morning.

A large police presence has remained in a neighborhood for several hours, and the involved home appears to be at the corner of Willow Beach Street and Bay Avenue Southwest, near Highway 13.

Multiple police vehicles have been at the scene since about 3:30 a.m.

Details of what led up to the scene haven’t been released.
