Police: Man taken to hospital, woman taken into custody after stabbing in Anoka
A man was taken to a hospital and a woman was taken into custody after an alleged stabbing and standoff in Anoka.
Anoka Police said officers were called to the 500 block of Greenhaven Road at about 10 a.m. Friday on a report that a man was bleeding and yelling in the hallways of an apartment complex.
When officers arrived at the scene, they made contact with the man and determined he was suffering from a stab wound. He was then transported to a hospital. Police said his condition is unknown.
The department said officers then learned the suspect in the stabbing, a woman, had barricaded herself in one of the apartments.
All other residents of the building were evacuated and authorities call in SWAT teams to help set up a perimeter. Eventually, phone contact with the suspect was established and, after three hours, the suspect voluntarily surrendered. She was then taken into custody.
Police said there are no safety concerns for the public.
Roads in the area that were closed during the standoff have since reopened.
