Suspect arrested in fatal shooting Friday across from U.S. Bank Stadium, victim identified

UPDATE 9:30 p.m. 01/01/23:

A 28-year-old was arrested in connection with this homicide. He was booked on probable-cause homicide but hasn’t yet been officially charged.

UPDATE 4 p.m. 01/01/23:

The Hennepin County Medical Examiner identified the victim as Jeremy Demond Ellis, 26, of Plymouth. He died of multiple gunshot wounds.

UPDATE 8:30 a.m. 12/31/22:

Homicide investigators are looking for information after a fatal shooting around 9 p.m. Friday across from U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis, according to the Minneapolis Police Department.

Police say Minneapolis officers and Hennepin County deputies went to a parking lot behind 601 Chicago Avenue, which is situated at the corner of South Sixth Street and Chicago Avenue, for a report of a shooting.

At the scene, responders found a man in his 20s with life-threatening gunshot wounds. The man was said to be sitting inside a running vehicle.

The man, who will be identified by the Hennepin County Medical Examiner, died at the scene.

INITIAL REPORT 10:30 p.m. 12/30/22: Police are investigating a homicide Friday night near U.S. Bank Stadium in downtown Minneapolis.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, a man was killed just before 9 p.m. at the intersection of Sixth Street and Chicago Avenue.
