Police: Man believed to have taken his own life after firing at Brooklyn Park officer

One man is dead after Brooklyn Park police say he shot at an officer and then took his own life Wednesday.
According to police, officers were called to the 8700 block of North Maplebrook Parkway just before 9 p.m. for a report of a shots fired call.
When a police officer arrived, officials say the man then shot at the officer, who wasn’t injured. The officer’s squad car was hit by gunfire.
Other officers then arrived, who found the man in a nearby driveway dead from what police believe is a self-inflicted gunshot wound. They also say a gun was found next to the suspect.
Police also believe the man had been involved in a domestic incident prior to the shooting, and add the involved woman is OK.
An investigation is being done, and police add the officer who was being fired at had a body camera recording at the time of the shooting.
The involved officer, as well as the suspect, haven’t been identified as of this publishing.
No other details were immediately provided.
