St. Paul police investigating late night stabbing in Eastern Hazel Park neighborhood

UPDATE 11:30 a.m. – St. Paul police say a man is recovering after being stabbed by another man late Tuesday night in the city’s Eastern Hazel Park neighborhood.

According to St. Paul police, officers were called to a home on the 1800 block of Lacrosse Avenue at 11:15 p.m. for a report of a person who had been stabbed.

When officers arrived, they found an injured St. Paul man, identified as 31-year-old Spencer Jones, and began to provide aid.

Police were told that a man the victim didn’t know had entered the home and stabbed him.

The victim also didn’t know why he was stabbed.

According to police, the victim is recovering from injuries considered to be non-life threatening, and he is in stable condition.

Although an incident report states a description of the suspect was obtained by police, officers didn’t immediately provide that description to 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS.

St. Paul police say they don’t currently have information at this time that makes them believe there is a threat to the public.

Police are continuing to investigate the incident.

INITIAL REPORT 6:30 a.m. – Few details have been released about what police say is an assault in St. Paul.

Police were called to an apartment on Lacrosse Avenue near Hazel Street North around 11:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A watch commander told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS officers were called to an assault at the address, but couldn’t share more details.
