Police investigating after person fatally shot in car on St. Paul's West Side; no one in custody

The St. Paul Police Department is investigating after a female victim was shot and killed inside a car early Wednesday morning.

According to a news release, emergency personnel responded to multiple reports of gunshots just before 3 a.m. near Hall Avenue and West Stevens Street on St. Paul's West Side. Officers arriving on scene found a female victim inside a vehicle with apparent gunshot wounds.

Medics with the St. Paul Fire Department pronounced the victim dead at the scene, the release stated. The victim's name and age have yet to be released.

No one is in custody at this time.

The shooting remains under investigation. Anyone with information is asked to call 651-266-5650.

This is the 15th homicide in St. Paul in 2020, according to police.
