Police investigating after man shot in Champlin, 1 in custody

Police are investigating after a man was shot several times Saturday morning in Champlin.
According to the Brooklyn Park Police Department, around 7:45 a.m., a shooting victim who had been shot at a home in Champlin and drove himself to a business at North 96th and Zane avenues and called for medical help.
Emergency responders found the man on the ground with several gunshot wounds. Brooklyn Park police and firefighters rendered first aid until an ambulance arrived.
At about 6 p.m., police returned the area where the victim of the shooting was found after obtaining information that the suspect was close by. Law enforcement found the suspect riding a bike and they fled from police on the bike, according to Brooklyn Park police.
Officers were able to successfully detain the suspect with the help of Champlin police.
The Champlin Police Department is leading the investigation.
