Police: Edina incident resolved after some residents asked to shelter in place

An incident in Edina has been peacefully resolved after some residents were asked to shelter in place on Wednesday.

According to Edina Police, officers responded to a possible disturbance at an apartment in the 6000 block of Eden Prairie Road at 12:04 p.m. When officers arrived, the reporting party claimed to have heard gunshots and a domestic dispute in the early morning hours.

Officers attempted to make contact with people in the apartment but received no answer.

Out of an abundance of caution, officers evacuated nearby apartment units and requested people nearby shelter in place.

At 1:44 p.m., officers were able make contact and peacefully enter the unit. Four people then left the apartment without incident.

No charges were filed. Investigators were expected to remain on scene Wednesday afternoon.

At 2:40 p.m., the department tweeted that the situation had been resolved peacefully and residents didn’t need to shelter in place any longer.
