Police said three adults were found dead inside a Farmington residence Wednesday night.
According to an update Thursday morning, police said officers were called to the townhome, along 183rd Street West, after receiving a request to check on a person visiting the residence.
When officers arrived at about 9:30 p.m. Wednesday, they found the three adults inside the townhome.
Police took a man into custody. He is being held at the Dakota County Jail, police said.
A family friend told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS he’s good friends with a man who lives inside the townhome.
"He was a good kid, happy, and I don’t know what to think right now," the 24-year-old, who wishes to stay anonymous, said. "Two months ago, we went out together for drinks and I haven’t talked to him since then."
The 24-year-old and his friends were stopping by to check on his friend after they weren’t able to reach him.
"It hurts. I see his car sitting there and I don’t know if he’s OK or not. I can’t get ahold of him," the family friend said.
"Shocked, surprised, concerned because there was literally a wall between us," Kevin Werner, a next-door neighbor, said.
Werner has lived right next door for 11 years but says a crime just steps away from his home is a first.
"This neighborhood is pretty quiet. We keep to ourselves just the basic ‘Hi’ and ‘good morning’ when we see each other," Werner said.
Friends who know the family that lives inside told 5 EYEWITNESS NEWS they’re anxiously waiting for answers.
Farmington Police Chief Gary Rutherford said investigators don’t believe the incident was random and added officers are not seeking any other suspects in connection to the incident. Rutherford said there is no threat to the general public.
The Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension and the Hennepin County Medical Examiner’s Office are assisting the Farmington Police Department with the investigation.
Additional information is expected to be released at a later time, police said.
