Plymouth man returns stateside to face child neglect charges from over five years ago

A Plymouth man has returned stateside to face child neglect charges filed against him over five years ago.

Timothy David Johnson, 45-years-old, was charged in December 2016 with one gross misdemeanor count of neglecting a child. The charges stem from an incident in March 2015, when his 7-year-old son was found unresponsive and died.

Johnson and the boy’s mother, Sarah Nicole Johnson, 44-years-old, both fled the country to New Zealand in the wake of the charges.

Court records show Timothy Johnson appeared in court Friday, signing a waiver of extradition. His next appearance is scheduled for Aug. 5 at 10 a.m.

According to court records, Sarah Nicole Johnson also plans to return stateside. “Defendant is trying to enter the U.S. to appear on this case,” a recent order notes. A first appearance in her case has been scheduled for July 15 in the afternoon.
