Patchy fog rolls in after heavy rain in Minnesota, air quality alert remains in effect

After heavy rain fell Wednesday, Thursday is expected to be mostly sunny.

Chief Meteorologist Ken Barlow said temperatures Thursday were expected to rise into the low 80s and humidity was expected to drop.

Barlow said some parts of the state measured over an inch or two of rain Wednesday and a few severe storms were reported south of the metro.

Meanwhile, the National Weather Service issued an alert early Thursday morning regarding patchy, dense fog across Minnesota. The NWS advised drivers to use their headlights, slow down and leave extra space between their vehicles and the vehicles in front of them.

That alert has since expired.

Additionally, an air quality alert is in effect for parts of northern Minnesota until 9 a.m. Friday, due to smoke from wildfires north of the Canadian border in Ontario and Manitoba.
