Owner of Penn Lake Roast Beef shot during attempted robbery in Bloomington

The owner of Penn Lake Roast Beef was shot in an apparent attempted robbery in Bloomington.

According to a release from the City of Bloomington, Bloomington police responded to a business in the 8900 block of Penn Avenue on the report of an adult male collapsed on the sidewalk in front of a store. 

Officers arrived slightly after 7:15 p.m. and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound to the upper body. 

Further investigation showed that the victim was an employee at an adjacent store. While inside the store, the employee was confronted by a gunman in an apparent robbery attempt. At some point during the attempted robbery, the victim was shot.

The victim, Kevan Tran is listed in critical but stable condition at Hennepin County Medical Center.

"Super guy, works seven days a week," Andy Knaeble, owner of Instant Replay Sports said. "Doesn't ever take a day off, when that store is open he's there. I'd like to see him real soon. My prayers are out to him for sure."

A GoFundMe page has been started to help cover Tran's medical expenses and keep the business operating.
