Owner of Burnsville Center has new plan to bring future development to mall

The owner of Burnsville Center is moving forward with a plan to bring new life to the struggling mall.

The plan is to sell off portions of the mall property for future development. It includes adding two new restaurants and possible future new housing around the mall. The mall itself would remain.

"With this re-energized development plan from the property owner that it will attract more mixed-use development, more residential, more office, hotel, entertainment, which would bring more rooftops and people to the area to help fill the mall space itself," Regina Dean, Burnsville’s assistant community development director, said.

The Burnsville City Council is expected to vote on the new development plan on Tuesday.
