NTSB report: Plane found near Cottage Grove seen intact before disappearing
The plane that disappeared near Cottage Grove was seen intact prior to its disappearance on Sept 13., according to a preliminary report from the National Transportation Safety Board.
Wreckage from the plane, a Cessna 1721, was located in a water-filled quarry on Grey Cloud Island a day after it disappeared. The occupants of the plane were later recovered as well.

According to the NTSB report, radar data showed the airplane departed Fleming Field Municipal Airport at 2:28 p.m. on Sept. 13. The plane reached 1,800 feet above sea level and began to travel toward Upper Grey Cloud Island.
Four minutes later, the plane disappeared over Lower Grey Cloud Island.
The report said another airplane that was inbound for Fleming Field Municipal Airport captured still photos of the plane. An examination of the photographs found the plane was still intact.
