North St. Paul student arrested after bringing loaded gun to school, fighting staff
A student was arrested last week after bringing a loaded gun to school and then fighting school staff and a school resource officer in North St. Paul.
The city said North St. Paul police responded to North High School on Nov. 9 after a school resource officer reported an active fight with a student who had a loaded gun.
School officials had gotten a tip saying the student had a gun so the student was removed from class for questioning. When asked about the gun, the city says the student immediately started violently assaulting school employees and the school resource officer. Officials also confirmed the student had a gun and the student refused to hand it over.
When police officers arrived at the scene, they were able to control the student and get the gun, which was never fired, according to the city.
The student was taken into custody for having a gun on school grounds, threats of violence and assault, the city said.
