No suspicious items found at Osakis Public School following bomb threat

Law enforcement officers have completed a check of Osakis Public School and didn’t find any suspicious items following a bomb threat reported Thursday.
Superintendent Randy Bergquist provided an update Thursday afternoon, saying the building has been thoroughly checked and that officers have taken all precautions.
No injuries were reported and all students were picked up by their parents, Bergquist said. Students were able to return to the building if they needed to get anything, Bergquist added.
The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office reported investigators were able to trace the email containing the threat and determined it had been sent from out of state.
Though the investigation is ongoing, the sheriff’s office stated deputies do not believe there is any threat to the school or the public.

A bomb threat was made at Osakis Public School, located east of Alexandria, on Thursday.
According to Superintendent Randy Bergquist, the threat was made through an email and students have since been dispersed to different areas. He said kindergarten through sixth grade were moved to a nearby community center, and seventh- through 12th-graders were moved to a local church.
Emergency responders are on scene and investigating. In a later update, school is canceled for the day.
