She’s a Minnesotan who made a mark on the world stage.
Now many are looking up to Olympic gold medal winner Suni Lee in a new mural on St. Paul’s West Side.
Lee’s grandparents own the building on Robert Street and hired local artist Mwene Kajunju, who goes by MK, to honor the gymnast.
"I just want young people to look at her as a role model to be like her," Suni’s grandfather, Cheu Lee, said.
"What it means to achieve the American dream in America and I think that’s very vital in terms of for young people," Suni’s grandmother, Choua Lee, said.
Suni Lee is now competing on "Dancing with the Stars."
Lee’s grandparents hope she’ll win that show and bring home the Mirrorball Trophy.
