There will be more detours for drivers traveling in the north metro and east metro this weekend. Crews are busy working on a couple of resurfacing projects, so that will require a little planning ahead.

For the third weekend in a row, Highway 52 will close from St. Paul to Inver Grove Heights. The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) states the southbound lanes will shut down between Plato Boulevard and Interstate 494 starting at 9 p.m. Friday until 5 a.m. Monday. The detour takes drivers to I-94, Highway 61, and I-494.

I-94 is closing for the fourth and final weekend in Brooklyn Center. This time around, drivers will see the eastbound lanes shut down from Brooklyn Boulevard to Highway 100. Lanes will close by 10 p.m. Friday and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday. Traffic will be detoured to Highway 169, I-394, and Highway 100.

Those who are heading out of town this weekend shouldn’t forget about the new ramp closures along I-35W. Three more ramps closed earlier this week as part of the larger MnPASS project. However, MnDOT states there is some good news.

"2021 will be the final year of the three-year project on I-35W from Roseville to Blaine," said MnDOT’s Gail Vold Greco.

On Friday afternoons, there have been significant delays in the MnPASS work zone. Some of that is related to the configuration at I-35W northbound and Highway 10 westbound, where the ramp is down to one lane through the summer.
