MnDOT warns of possible pavement buckles in excessive heat

Pavement could buckle as excessive heat affects all areas of the state Monday, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) warns.

5 EYEWITNESS NEWS traffic reporter Hanna Conway says roads have already started to give way in some areas, which is likely to continue as temperatures rise Monday. You can find a Twitter feed of her traffic updates below.

MnDOT gives examples of what pavement buckles look like in the tweet below.

Driver alert: extreme heat could cause pavement buckles across the state.

MnDOT is telling people to call 911 to report road buckles, which it says are an emergency.

People should also avoid driving over these problem areas.
