Minnesota student, 2 school staff members die of COVID-19
Officials with Education Minnesota say a student has died from COVID-19.
The latest state health data shows that a teenager between 15 and 19 years old in Hennepin County died from the coronavirus.
In response, Denise Specht, Education Minnesota’s union president, put out a statement saying, in part, "The loss of this student is a tragedy that every educator will feel. We’re asking parents to please reduce the risk of another tragic death of a student by vaccinating their teens."
Education Minnesota also says two more school staff members have died from COVID-19, bringing the total this school year to five.
Meanwhile, the latest report from the state Thursday shows 26 newly-reported COVID-19 deaths and 2,361 newly-reported positive COVID-19 tests.
