Minnesota lawmakers set for vote on legalizing marijuana

Thursday afternoon, the Minnesota House is scheduled to vote on a bill to legalize cannabis for adult, recreational use and expunge the records of those convicted for non-violent offenses involving marijuana.
The bill is expected to pass the DFL-controlled House but faces a steep uphill climb in the GOP-controlled Senate. With the end of the legislative session set for Monday, Senate Republicans have prioritized other legislation and have opposed legalizing marijuana recreationally, only signaling a willingness to adjust the state’s medical cannabis program.
House lawmakers are expected to hold a press conference discussing the bill at around 4 p.m. to discuss the cannabis bill before voting on it later in the afternoon.
