Thursday, Gov. Tim Walz announced Minnesota is joining an initiative by President Joe Biden’s administration to give $100 to all Minnesotans who get a COVID-19 vaccination through Aug. 15.
The reward comes as the delta variant is causing case numbers to increase across the country and parts of the state.
"President Biden is calling for a nationwide push to make sure our families and communities are vaccinated and protected against COVID-19 and the Delta variant, and Minnesota is ready to join the effort," Walz said. "We have made so much progress to combat this virus. We cannot give up ground now, especially with students returning to the classroom this fall. Getting paid $100 to keep your family safe is a pretty good deal – all you have to do is roll up your sleeves."
Vaccinations can be verified and prizes claimed online.
Walz said $2.5 million in American Rescue Plan funding will be allocated for the program.
Anyone interested in getting a vaccination can find an appointment through the state’s vaccine connector.
