Minneapolis woman dies after being struck twice by same vehicle

A 29-year-old woman from Minneapolis was fatally struck by a vehicle and hit a second time, according to the Ramsey County Sheriff’s Office.

Police responded to the area of Cleveland Avenue and Larpenteur Avenue in St. Paul on Saturday on a report of "an accident with injuries where a pedestrian was struck."

After arriving at the scene, officers learned that a vehicle struck a parked car and a pedestrian. The parked car and pedestrian were pushed through a chain link fence. After making a U-turn, the truck again drove over the pedestrian while driving back onto Cleveland Avenue.

The pedestrian, identified as Abigail R. Anderson, was transported to Regions Hospital where she died from her injuries. Police added that the driver of the truck was also taken to Regions Hospital for a blood draw search warrant.

The Minneapolis woman was the younger sister of Gabe Grunewald, an Olympic hopeful who died in 2019 at age 32. Anderson was also an avid runner. She was on the cross country team at the University of Minnesota.
