Minneapolis police seek public’s help in finding murder suspect

The Minneapolis Police Department is seeking the public’s help in locating a murder suspect after a man died from a gunshot wound on Aug. 15.

According to police, at 1:55 a.m., officers responded to a shooting report in the area of West Lake Street and Blaisdell Avenue.

Officers arrived and found a man, believed to be in his 20s, suffering from a gunshot wound. The man had no pulse and wasn’t breathing so officers began CPR and wound management.

Police said paramedics arrived on the scene and pronounced the man dead.

Through an investigation, police identified a suspect and a warrant has been issued.

The warrant for second-degree murder has been issued for Lionell J. Hicks, 29. Hicks is believed to have been living in West St. Paul. Anyone who sees Hicks is asked to call 911. Anyone with information on Hicks is asked to call CrimeStoppers of Minnesota.

The case number assigned to this incident is 21-183447.
