Minneapolis police investigating Powderhorn death as homicide

Thursday, Minneapolis police are continuing to investigate a homicide that happened Wednesday night.

According to the department, the incident happened just after 9:30 p.m. Officers responded to reports of gunshots along the 3500 block of 19th Avenue South.

When they arrived, they found a man on the ground with a gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

"The one thing that investigators have come up with at this point is that it does appear, based on the scene, that the suspect and the victim knew each other," department spokesman John Elder said.

The man who died has not yet been identified. Police said no arrests had been made as of early Thursday.

Meanwhile, according to the Minneapolis police, officers also responded to the report of a shooting on the 2700 block of Bryant Avenue N. at 7:20 p.m. Wednesday.

Police said no one is currently in custody related to that shooting and an investigation is underway.
