Minneapolis police investigating homicide on city’s south side

Minneapolis police are investigating a homicide on the city’s south side Friday morning.

The incident happened near Third Avenue South and East 17th Street, police said, which is just south of the Minneapolis Convention Center, across Interstate 94.

According to police at the scene, calls came in around 4 a.m., reporting a fight and shots fired.

When officers arrived, they said they found a man who had been shot inside an apartment. The man was brought to a nearby hospital where he died.

No one else was in the apartment when officers arrived and no one is currently in custody in connection with the incident, police said. They said they are working to identify potential witnesses.
