Minneapolis police investigating fatal shooting in Near North community

A man is dead following a shooting just before midnight Sunday in Minneapolis’ Hawthorne neighborhood, according to the city’s Police Department.
Officers went to the 3100 block of Dupont Avenue North for a report of a shooting and found a man with life-threatening gunshot wounds.
Police say life-saving efforts were unsuccessful, and the man died inside the home where he was found.
One man is in custody for questioning, according to police, but details surrounding his interactions with police were not specified.
Early police information indicates the two men knew each other.
Authorities have not released details about either man. The Hennepin County Medical Examiner is expected to identify the man who died.
