The Minneapolis Police Department is investigating its sixth and seventh homicide of 2021, with no one in custody yet.

Police received a call at 10:42 p.m. Sunday informing them of a shooting. When they responded to the 4000 block of 28th Avenue South, near Roosevelt High School, a man and woman were found dead with gunshot wounds in a car. A third person, who had also been shot, was in the car, but according to police, that person’s injuries were not life-threatening.

The car under investigation was found on the east sidewalk of 28th Avenue, but police have not shared where the shooting occurred.

"We are in the infancy of this investigation at this time, very little information is available,” John Elder, the police department’s director of public information, said.

Police also have not shared the names of the two who died. They were able to question the third person and said investigators were trying to connect with people who may have heard or seen what happened.
