Minneapolis dance instructor charged with sexually assaulting student

A Minneapolis dance instructor has been charged with sexually assaulting an underage victim who was also his student.

The Hennepin County Attorney’s Office said Wednesday that 28-year-old Decorey Bozeman faces a charge of first-degree criminal sexual conduct.

A criminal complaint states Minneapolis police were called to Bozeman’s apartment on Monday on a report of a sexual assault. When they arrived, officers talked to the teenage victim, who said they’d spent the night at Bozeman’s apartment and was sexually assaulted.

The victim was taken to a hospital and a sex assault examination was conducted.

Bozeman told investigators he picked the student up from the dance studio the day before and later engaged in a sex act, the complaint states.

He made his first court appearance on Wednesday, and his next appearance is set for Jan. 28.
