Booking a last-second MEA Weekend trip may cost you if you can find a ticket to do so.
“I think there’s just such a pent-up demand and people just want to get out of here,” Melissa Gutting, a sales development manager with Travel Leaders Market Square, said about the busy travel weekend.
Gutting said if you do have a trip on the books, try to plan ahead as much as you can and be prepared to adjust.
“I think [with] traveling right now, you need to be flexible,” Gutting added. “I think that’s the key component when you’re traveling right now is be flexible, follow all the [COVID-19 restrictions] and plan ahead.”
She also said your ticket may cost more due to higher demand. Travel industry leaders also say higher gas prices are leading to more expensive tickets.
Gutting added to also look ahead at the COVID-19 restrictions for the place your traveling to – that includes state, hotel and entertainment venue protocols, for example, as many different places have their own rules.
